Appointment of Chief Executive
04 Jun 2003
Aggreko plc announces the appointment of Rupert Soames as Chief Executive, with effect from 1 July 2003. The appointment is the result of an extensive search for a new Chief Executive, following the tragic death in a car accident of the previous incumbent, Philip Harrower, in December 2002.
Mr Soames, aged 44, was formerly with Misys PLC, where he was most recently Chief Executive of the Banking and Securities Division. Before joining Misys Rupert was with GEC plc for 15 years, working in a number of their subsidiaries; in the last 4 years of his service with GEC he was responsible for the UK, African & Asian operations of Avery Berkel.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr Philip Rogerson, Chairman said;
“We are delighted that Rupert Soames will be joining Aggreko as our new Chief Executive.
“Rupert Soames will bring to Aggreko a wealth of international business experience gained from working for two leading international companies, where he successfully managed businesses of a scale and global reach similar to that of Aggreko. His expertise in growing international markets and establishing new ones, added to his experience working with employees and clients across the globe, will be invaluable for Aggreko.”
