Aggreko signs 100 MW gas project for Dominican Republic
12 Apr 2012
Aggreko is pleased to announce the award of a two year project,
subject to final approvals and closing conditions usual for an
agreement of this type, for 100 MW of gas powered generation in the
Dominican Republic.
The agreement, which is valued at circa $80 million over a two
year period will serve as an interim emergency solution to
Edenorte, the Northern electrical distribution company of CDEEE, in
the Dominican Republic. There is an urgent need for utility power
in the Dominican Republic due to a rapid increase in demand for
electricity, driven by economic growth in the country, which has
affected national grid stability.
Celso Marranzini, Vice President of CDEEE has said, "this
agreement is part of the short term solution to the energy
situation that the country has suffered for more than 40 years, and
the presence of Aggreko in the Dominican Republic is a clear sign
of confidence in the country's economic stability and the continued
support that President Leonel Fernández has given to the
electrical sector."
Rupert Soames, Chief Executive of Aggreko said, "we are
delighted to be have been selected to be of service to CDEEE to
help address the temporary power needs in the Dominican Republic.
This will improve the stability of the national grid which has had
to deal with rapidly increasing demand due to the rapid economic
growth of the country".

Aggreko plc is the world leader in the supply of temporary power
and temperature control solutions. Aggreko employs over 4,500
people operating from 165 locations. In 2011 we served customers in
about 100 countries, and had revenues of approximately £1.4bn
(USD $2.2bn or Euros €1.7bn). Aggreko plc is listed on the
London Stock Exchange (AGK.L), is a member of the FTSE-100 index,
and is headquartered in Scotland. For more information, please

Aggreko provides power and temperature control solutions to
customers who need them either very quickly, or for a short or
indeterminate length of time. Examples would be the supply of power
to an industrial site which needs to service its permanent power
supply, supplying a whole city in times of power shortage, or
providing a major sporting event with power and cooling systems. We
serve our customers either through our 165 service centres, which
we call the Local Business, or globally through our International
Power Projects business.
In the Local
business, which accounts for about half of our revenues, we
hire our equipment to customers, who then operate it for
themselves, although we retain responsibility for servicing and
maintaining it. In the International Power Projects business, which also accounts for
about half of our revenues, we operate as a power producer. We
install and operate power plants and we charge our customers both
for providing the generating capacity, and for the electricity we
produce. We design and manufacture equipment specifically for these
requirements in our factory in Dumbarton, Scotland.
Aggreko is the exclusive supplier of temporary power to the London 2012 Olympics, and we
also provide power to national grids in around 50 countries
including Indonesia, Bangladesh, Angola, Kenya, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil and the USA.
